Depart Sarajevo
Fifteen-minute drive west to Ilidža, at the end of the tram line.

Walk the 3.5 km promenade from Ilidža to the source itself — lined with poplars and benches and families on weekends.

At the source
Watch the river emerge from twelve or so cold springs at the base of Mt Igman. The water is so clear you can count the stones on the bottom.
